Out of sight, out of mind.
We worked with a client that has her own closet (separate his & hers) and her clothes were also taking up space in the guest bedroom. As a mother of a toddler all her time has been occupied raising her daughter, leaving her with little time to keep organized. Our main priority here was to help her navigate all the clothes she had. We took out all her clothes from the two closets, dressers, and drawers, and one by one allowed her to decide what item to keep or donate.
We taught the client how to better fold and hang her clothes so she can maintain the system we created for her. We hung most of her clothes so she can see it all at once, making it easier to find an outfit. With our help, she realized just how many clothes she had that she had forgotten about, a lot of which she no longer wanted or needed. We were able to fit almost everything in her closet and dresser located in her master bedroom, leaving just her special occasion Indian outfits for the guest bedroom closet. Through this decluttering process, we were able to take out 5 luggages worth of clothes to donate.
Tips: It’s important to regularly clean out your closet, whether it is seasonally, or annually. This helps maintain your organization, and prevent clutter from piling up. We recommend that for every item you purchase, you try to donate or get rid of one as well. The other tip is do designate areas of your closet to a category based on season, color, or type. This makes getting ready much easier and less time consuming.
