Just in case
We all hold onto many things just in case we might need it. That’s a valid reason, but sometimes we need to stop and think about the odds of this just in case situation taking place. When we constantly keep accumulating things because “just in case”, it becomes harder to find the things you actually need. The more objects we have, the harder it is to find what we need and in some cases the accumulation of objects results in some form of hoarding.
We have see some “just in case” mindsets result in 15+ bottles of body wash hidden throughout the house but the individual never finding the item in time of need, which ends up with another purchase of an item they already have multiples of. A lack of organization also exacerbates the results of the “just in case” mindset. For one of our clients, we found over 60 kitchen sponges and countless garbage bags because they weren’t aware of their inventory (everything was scattered) and they just kept on buying. When it comes to food and items with an expiration date, this mindset can result in a waste of time, space, and money- time spent restocking items you already have, the space it takes up in your home, and money when you need to throw out the item (sometimes unused) because it has spoiled or past the expiration date.
